Luke Skywalker
Luke means light. Luke Skywalker brought the rebel movement new hope. Like his father before him, Luke was strong in the force. He led the rebellion against the evil empire that was run by Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Darth Vader, Palpatine's apprentice was his nemesis and his father.
Luke's training as a Jedi started when he was already an adult. By that time, the Jedi were almost extinct. Only Obi-wan Kenobi who started him on his journey, and Yoda, the Jedi Master, were left.
When Obi-wan was killed by Darth Vader in a battle, Obi-Wan's ghost still guided Luke.. until the last stages of his training. That was done by Yoda, the Jedi Master. When Yoda died of old age, Luke Skywalker was the last of the Jedi.
As the force was strong with the Skywalker clan, his twin sister, Leia, had that power too. She was untrained in the ways of the force, but was a formidable fighter in the rebellion.
Luke was very protective over his little sister. Yoda had trained Luke very well, but it was threats against his sister that made him lose control and almost kill Darth Vader which would have pushed him over to the dark side.
His father, while still a Jedi knight, Anakin Skywalker, had killed Darth Sidious, previous apprentice, Count Dooku. After that, Darth Sidious worked on making Anakin his next apprentice. Now the emperor was eyeing Luke as his next apprentice. Luke resisted and the Emperor nearly killed him. Darth Vader in those last moments turned against the emperor, killed the emperor and saved Luke.
Luke had led his father back to the good side once again.
Like all jedis, Luke fights primarily with a light saber. Like his father, he has incredible skills as a pilot as well. He also can use the force to move things and to read minds and even manipulate weaker minds.
