The Spawn was Al Simmons in his human life. Al was a national hero. A member of the CIA, Al saved the president from an assassin. His boss, Jason Wynn manipulated Al. Al was trained to take orders without questioning, and Jason sent him to kill and on questionable missions, in the name of the security of his country.
On a final mission, Al's fellow agenst turned on him and killed him. His death was masterminded by Jason Wynn.
Al Simmon's love for his wife was so deep, he would do anything to see her again, so he made a pact with the devil and was sent back to earth as Spawn.
Spawn's powers are from hell. He can do anything imaginable with his powers. Once his powers are used up, he goes back to hell as a slave. Until then, he uses his power for good and kills those who are evil.
