Superman
Superman is the last son of Krypton. The planet Krypton was unstable and about to explode. Jor-el, a brilliant scientist warned the council about Krypton's fate and that they had to evacuate the planet. They ignored his warnings.
Jor-el found that the planet earth had the perfect environment for Kryptonians. The yellow sun combined with the relatively very weak gravity would give A kryptonian incredible powers that would ensure his or her survival.
In the planet's final moments, he placed his son Kal-el, in a prototype of the spaceship he designed, and sent him off to earth.
That little space capsule landed in Kansas and was discovered by a kindly, childless couple Jonathan and Martha Kent. They named baby Kal-el, Clark Kent and raised his as their son. They instilled strong ethics in Clark. They brought him up to be the hero he would eventually become.
Superman's powers
Superman has super strength. He can push mountains. With the help of 3 other powerful Justice Leaguers, he can even move the moon. Kryptonians are the strongest beings in the universe. The only creature to match his strength was DoomsDay, who was biologically engineered on KryptonSuperman can fly. Initially, he could only leap tall buildings with a single bound. Eventually, the stories changed so he can fly anywhere he likes throughout the universe.
Superman is invulnerable. An entire planet could explode and he would still survive. His only weakness is Kryptonite. Some time back, the Justice League rid the world of kryptonite, leaving only one piece of kryptonite, in the safe keeping of Superman's best friend, Batman. To be used only if Superman goes mad and endangers the earth.
Superman has heat vision (He can shoot out beams of heat from his eyes and can control the strength and intensity of these beams. He can use his heat vision to keep someone warm, or to burn down a threat, except that Superman has vowed never to take a life. Superman's word is very important to him. ). Superman also has x-ray vision (ability to see through anything except lead) and can see the various spectrums of light invisible to the human eye.
Superman also has super hearing. He can hear sounds at frequencies way beyond what the normal human can detect. He can hear sounds very very far away.
Superman's love interests
When Superman first appeared in the comic books, he had 2 sweethearts and could not choose between the two of them. Lana Lang and Lois Lane fought over him. He even had a mermaid sweetheart, LoriLater, Lana became his high school sweet heart, while Lois Lane became the love of his life, whom he eventually married.
For a while, Superman and Wonder Woman had a love relationship. That started while they were on duty together when Cupid hit both of them with his arrows, making them fall for each other. They found a cure, as Superman genuinely loved Lois Lane while Wonder Woman loved Steve Trevor.
In another issue, Superman and Wonder Woman met secretly in a forest inaccessible to most people on a first date. To get to really know one another. Their romantic flight was cut short by a distress signal to Wonder Woman from Hermes trapped by Darkseid in Olympus. Wonder Woman responded and Superman followed her. The adventure with these gods caused Superman to conclude that Wonder Woman was way out of his league because at heart, he is merely a small town boy from Kansas, Wonder Woman respects his wishes, though she thinks he is on par with the olympian gods she serves.
On another occasion, after Superman's marriage to Lois, Superman and Wonder Woman were caught up in a war that lasts 1000 years. Away from Lois for so long that he could know longer remember her face, even with the temptation of the beautiful Diana (Wonder Woman) beside him all the time, he stayed faithful to Lois. When the war was won, Superman was granted one wish. He asked and was granted to return back in time to continue his life with Lois, where he left off.
