Teen Titans
DCs main superheros have their sidekicks. While the grown up heros have the Justice League, these teenaged sidekicks have the Teen Titans.
The original teen titans
In the original Teen Titans, Robin (Batman's sidekick) leads the team, Wonder Girl (Wonder Woman's sidekick), Aqualad (Aquaman's sidekick) and Speedy (Green Arrow's sidekick). Each teen has the powers and abilities of their mentor.They got together to stop Mr. Twister in Hatton Corners. In their second meeting, their mentors were controlled by the evil Antithesis. It was up to these teenaged superheros to break the hold that alien had on their mentors. After that adventure, they decided to group together permanently as the Teen Titans.
The original teen titans disbanded after helping an old man get rid of demonic creatures in his estate.
New Teen Titans
The New Teen Titans was formed by Raven. Raven is an interesting being. Daughter of a human mother and a demon father, she learnt to suppress the evil deep within her and use her powers for good. She found that her father, Trigon, was going to invade Earth, so she tried to get the Justice League to help her stop him. The Justice League, knowing her heritage would not help her. She turned to teenaged superheros instead and gathered together teenaged superheros that would become the New Teen Titans. These are Wally West (kid flash), Donna Troy (Wonder Girl, also known as Troia), Nightwing (Dick Grayson, formerly Robin), Starfire, Cyborg and Changeling.Contemporary Teen Titans
Donna Troy's death led to quite an upheaval in the Teen Titans. A new group of youngsters with similar powers to the original teen titans have been gathered to form this new Contemporary Teen Titans. Their mentors approached them individually to talk them into joining this new group, for their own good. This Contemporary Teen Titans is like a junior Justice League.Superboy, a teenaged clone of Superman was caught playing truant by his mentor and after a good lecture from superman, Superboy joins the Teen Titans. Likewise, Robin, Kid Flash, Starfire, Beast Boy and the new Wonder Girl, Cassandra are recruited into this new organization. Tensions already exist between the members in the first issue which should lead to rather interesting character development in this new series.
