The Dark Knight Movie Review with spoilers
The Dark Knight, in the summer 2008 block buster movie refers to Batman. The White Knight, Harvey Dent (later, two-faced) and Joker are the key villians in this movie while Scarecrow makes a guest appearance.
As a long-time Batman fan, I've been waiting impatiently to see The Dark Knight movie and finally got my chance last night. Like Spider-man was to the Spidey fan boys, this Batman movie will please the Batman fans too. How does it compare to Batman Begins?
For one thing, Batman in this movie relies too much on his gadgets. The Batsuit is a gadget guy's dream come true but hey, what happened to all the fighting prowess and beautiful fight scenes choreography we saw in Batman Begins. Hey, did Christian Bale lose weight? He looked amazing in Batman Begins in those fight scenes, but as a female, I felt a little disappointed such scenes were missing in The Dark Knight. Batman has his body armor for protection uses his gadgets to beat the bad guys. When he fights joker, he appears like a bully, fully protected by his body armor while the Joker has no protection.Story-wise, with the Joker being the main villian, you can expect utter chaos and lots of things not making sense in this movie. Joker, player by the late Heath Ledger is a mad man, can make insanity seem logical. Who at times, sounds like a psychiatrist on a couch, yet is as looney as they get. The previous Joker, player by Jack Nicholson, was a hard performance to beat, but Heath Ledger carves his own niche. His Joker is utterly spooky. A haunted character, abused as a kid, gone stark raving mad, yet much of what he says sounds logical in a warped way. He imbues cold logic to utter insanity which makes him plain scary.

I was surprised that Scarecrow made appearance in the movie. With a character like Joker, you don't need too many villians cluttering up the movie. I like the way Joker recognized a certain kinship with Batman, in a warped way, they are both freaks in society. Batman can't kill Joker because of his ethics. Joker can't kill Batman because he is too much fun to play with.
The story goes on to portray Harvey Dent's fall from white knight who cleaned up Gotham's streets legally, by prosecuting hundreds of criminals in one fell swoop. That makes him Joker's main target. Actually, Joker had 3 men he wanted to destroy. Batman, Harvey and Commissioner Gordon.
He wants Batman to turn in himself and that would mean the end of the vigilante if he caves in. To push his point, he kills a prominent person each day until Batman turns himself in. He targets Commissioner Gordon for assassination and as for Harvey, the White Knight, fearless D.A., he attacks the man's sanity. Did Scarecrow have a hand in this? Were any scenes missing from the movie? There seemed to be holes in the movie I saw, as if the editors got over enthusiastic and chopped off huge chunks of the movie. If that's the case, I hope they show the full, unedited version on DVD. Think that will happen?
In the end, Joker won, in his own warped way.
