As the story goes, Batman was orphaned as a little boy when a robber shot his parents. Robin was a circus acrobat,part of the flying Graysons, an act he and his family were proud of. One day, Someone tampered with the equipment which led to a fatal accident, killing Robin"s parents, leaving him an orphan. Batman, as Bruce Wayne was watching the performance when it happen and in young Dick Grayson, he saw himself as a little boy orphaned through murder. E adopted Dick Grayson and trained him to be his side kick, Robin.

That was the first Robin. Unlike Bruce, Dick was not bitter. In a sense, he did not experience the full extent of loss that Bruce Wayne did as Bruce became his father. Robin eventually became the leader of the teen titans, the band of sidekicks who made a name for themselves. When that first robin grew up, he became Nightwing.
